Curriculum Overview

At Weavers Academy, we aim to provide all students with a curriculum which;

  • meets statutory requirements;
  • builds on prior learning and provides a basis for all learning in the future;
  • prepares them to be active particiapants in the world of the twenty-first century;
  • is appropriate for each individual and allows each one to reach his or her potential.

 

Key Stage 3

In Years 7, 8 and 9, all students follow the same broad curriculum, although some are offered extra support and some are challenged with more demanding work.

Teaching takes place within the tutor group for some subjects. in others, students are taught in sets composed of students of similar ability.

The curriculum for all students includes:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Drama
  • Creative Arts, including Art, Design and ICT
  • Language, French or Spanish
  • Humanities, including Geography, History and RE
  • Music
  • Physical Education 

 

Key Stage 4

In Years 10 and 11, each student has a personal timetable with a common core, which allows them to study individually chosen

subjects at an appropriate level. The common core is:

  • English, including English Literature
  • Maths
  • Science (double or triple)
  • Physical Education
  • Music
  • Art
  • ICT
  • Business Studies
  • Textiles
  • Media
  • Food
  • Drama
  • French
  • Spanish

  • PE and Sport

Choices may vary from year to year but usually include:
