Hospital Placement on the Road to Genetic Research

16 June 2015 In Sixth Form News

Year 12 student, Sammie Allen has been awarded a placement at Northampton General Hospital to take part in a microbiology project. The project looks at methods for identifying bacteria in blood cultures and how this work can be developed to improve methods of targeting and identifying bacteria in blood. The improved methods can then be used to aid the development of immunisations in the future. Sammie’s induction takes place next week and hopefully this will be a significant step on her road to genetic research in the future. Sammie gained this placement through the Nuffield Research Project.
