Social Sciences
At Weavers Academy, our Social Science curriculum aims to inspire students to critically engage with the world around them by exploring the complexities of human societies, cultures, and the environment. We strive to develop informed, responsible, and empathetic citizens who can understand the past, critically analyze the present, and contribute thoughtfully to shaping a sustainable and just future.
Through subjects like Psychology, Sociology and Health & Social Care, we encourage students to ask insightful questions, challenge assumptions, and explore diverse perspectives. Our curriculum is designed to promote the development of key skills such as critical thinking, research, communication, and problem-solving, enabling students to apply their learning to real-world issues.
By providing opportunities for active learning and inquiry-based approaches, we aim to foster an appreciation of diversity, a commitment to social justice, and an understanding of the interconnectedness of global and local issues. We aim for all students to leave with a strong foundation in Social Science, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate a rapidly changing world and to contribute positively to society.
In addition, we recognize the importance of personal development and well-being within our Social Science curriculum, encouraging students to reflect on their own values, attitudes, and behaviors. Our vision is for students to leave our school not only with academic qualifications but also with the confidence and ability to engage thoughtfully and responsibly in the wider world.
